Exegesis

The narrative begins with ki {כִּי | kî} ‘for/because’ and the negative particle lo {לֹא | lô} preceding the Hiphil perfect hish’îr {הִשְׁאִיר | hiš-ʼîr} ‘he left behind’, forming the main clause.
