Exegesis

The verse opens with the temporal construct bishnat šəlôšîm ušmônê šānāh {בִּשְׁנַ֨ת שְׁלֹשִׁים וּשְׁמֹנֶה שָׁנָה | bišnāt šəlôšîm ušmônê šānāh} ‘in the thirty-eighth year,’ where a construct noun combines with cardinal numerals to express an ordinal.
