The repeated accusative ve-et precedes ziknei ha-kohanim {זִקְנֵ֣י הַכֹּֽהֲנִ֔ים | zîq-nê ha-kōh-ə-nîm}, “the elders of the priests,” whom the Hitpael participle mitkassim {מִתְכַּסִּ֖ים | mit-ka-ṣîm} depicts as “covering themselves.”
