2 Kings 2:9:2כְעָבְרָ֗םkheaveramwhen they crossed over 2 Kings 2:9:3וְאֵ֨לִיָּ֜הוּveeliyahuand Elijah 2 Kings 2:9:4אָמַ֤רamarsaid 2 Kings 2:9:5אֶל־אֱלִישָׁע֙elelishato Elisha 2 Kings 2:9:6שְׁאַל֙shealask 2 Kings 2:9:7מָ֣הmawhat 2 Kings 2:9:8אֶֽעֱשֶׂה־לָּ֔ךְeeselakhI may do for you 2 Kings 2:9:9בְּטֶ֖רֶםbeterembefore 2 Kings 2:9:10אֶלָּקַ֣חelakakhI am taken 2 Kings 2:9:11מֵעִמָּ֑ךְmeimmakhfrom with you 2 Kings 2:9:12וַיֹּ֣אמֶרvayomerand he said 2 Kings 2:9:13אֱלִישָׁ֔עelishaElisha 2 Kings 2:9:14וִֽיהִי־נָ֛אvihinaand let it be, please 2 Kings 2:9:15פִּֽי־שְׁנַ֥יִםpishenayima mouth of two or a double portion 2 Kings 2:9:16בְּרוּחֲךָ֖berukhakhaof your spirit 2 Kings 2:9:17אֵלָֽי׃elaiupon me or to me
9. Formal Translation
And it came to pass as they crossed over that Elijah said to Elisha, “Ask what I shall do for you before I am taken from you.” And Elisha replied, “Let a double portion of your spirit be upon me.”
9. Dynamic Translation
Once they had crossed, Elijah said to Elisha, “Tell me what I can do for you before I am taken from you.” Elisha answered, “Grant me twice as much of your spirit so it may rest on me.”
