The verb wayyik-rā’ {וַיִּקְרָ֣א | wayyik-rā’} ‘and he read aloud’ governs the object ’et kol dib-rê sē-p̄ēr ha-bə-rît {אֶת־כָּל־דִּבְרֵי סֵ֣פֶר הַבְּרִ֔ית | ’et kol dib-rê sē-p̄ēr ha-bə-rît} ‘all the words of the book of the covenant,’ modified by the participle ha-nimṣā’ bə-bēt YHWH {הַנִּמְצָ֖א בְּבֵ֥ית יְהוָֽה | ha-nimṣā’ bə-bēt YHWH} ‘that was found in the house of the LORD.’ The syntax creates a sense of covenantal restoration through communal proclamation in the temple setting.
