9. Formal Translation
So the king of Israel, the king of Judah, and the king of Edom journeyed by a winding path for seven days; yet there was no water for the camp or for the livestock at their feet.
9. Dynamic Translation
The king of Israel set out with the kings of Judah and Edom on a circuitous route for seven days; then the army ran out of water—and so did the animals trailing at their heels.
