3. Formal Translation And for the poor man, there was nothing except one little ewe-lamb which he had acquired, and he kept her alive, and she grew up with him and with his children together. From his morsel she would eat, and from his cup she would drink, and in his bosom she would lie. She was to him like a daughter. |
3. Dynamic Translation The poor man had nothing but one small lamb, which he had bought. He raised her, and she grew up with him and his children, sharing his food, drinking from his cup, and sleeping in his arms. She was like a daughter to him. |
