32. Formal Translation Then Jonadab, son of Shimeah, David’s brother, answered and said, “Let not my lord say that they have killed all the young men, the king’s sons, for only Amnon is dead. For by Absalom’s plan it was set from the day he afflicted Tamar his sister.” |
32. Dynamic Translation But Jonadab, the son of Shimeah, David’s brother, replied, “My lord, do not suppose they killed every one of the king’s sons; only Amnon is dead. This was Absalom’s design ever since the day he harmed his sister Tamar.” |
