The twin oath formulas ḥay Yə-hō-wāh {חַי־יְהוָה | ḥay Yə-hō-wāh} ‘as the LORD lives’ and wə-ḥē ʼăḏônî hammeleḵ {וְחֵי אֲדֹנִי הַמֶּלֶךְ | wə-ḥē ʼăḏônî hammeleḵ} ‘and as my lord the king lives’ underscore solemn allegiance.
