2 Samuel 16:2:1וַיֹּ֧אמֶרvayomerand said
2 Samuel 16:2:2הַמֶּ֛לֶךְhamelekhthe king 2 Samuel 16:2:3אֶל־צִיבָ֖אeltsivato Ziba 2 Samuel 16:2:4מָה־אֵ֣לֶּהmaelewhat are these 2 Samuel 16:2:5לָּ֑ךְlakhfor you 2 Samuel 16:2:6וַיֹּ֣אמֶרvayomerand said 2 Samuel 16:2:7צִ֠יבָאtsivaZiba 2 Samuel 16:2:8הַחֲמוֹרִ֨יםhakhamorimthe donkeys 2 Samuel 16:2:9לְבֵית־הַמֶּ֜לֶךְleveithamelekhfor the house of the king 2 Samuel 16:2:10לִרְכֹּ֗בlirkhovto ride 2 Samuel 16:2:11ולהלחםvelelekhemand to fight 2 Samuel 16:2:12וְהַלֶּ֤חֶםvehallekhemand the bread 2 Samuel 16:2:13וְהַקַּ֙יִץ֙vehakayitsand the summer fruit 2 Samuel 16:2:14לֶאֱכ֣וֹלleekholto eat 2 Samuel 16:2:15הַנְּעָרִ֔יםhannearimthe young men 2 Samuel 16:2:16וְהַיַּ֕יִןvehayayinand the wine 2 Samuel 16:2:17לִשְׁתּ֥וֹתlishteotto drink 2 Samuel 16:2:18הַיָּעֵ֖ףhayaefthe one weary 2 Samuel 16:2:19בַּמִּדְבָּֽר׃bamidbarin the wilderness
2. Formal Translation
And the king said to Ziba, “What are these to you?” And Ziba replied, “The donkeys are for the house of the king to ride, and the bread and the summer fruit for the young men to eat, and the wine for the weary to drink in the wilderness.”
2. Dynamic Translation
The king asked Ziba, “Why have you brought these?” Ziba answered, “The donkeys are for the royal family to ride, the bread and fruit are for the young men to eat, and the wine is to refresh those who are tired in the wilderness.”
