| 42. Formal Translation And all the men of Judah answered the men of Israel, “Because the king is near to us. Why are you angry about our bringing back the king? Have we eaten any of the king’s food or received anything for ourselves?” |
| 42. Dynamic Translation All the men of Judah replied to the men of Israel, “We acted because the king is our close relative. Why are you upset about this matter? Have we eaten anything at the king’s expense, or has he given us any gift?” |
