7. Formal Translation
But the king spared Mephibosheth, son of Jonathan, son of Saul, because of the oath of the LORD {Yahweh, Covenant Witness} that was between them, between David and Jonathan, son of Saul.
7. Dynamic Translation
The king did not harm {chamal: showed compassion, withheld punishment} Mephibosheth, the son of Jonathan and the grandson of Saul, because of the LORD’s {Yahweh, Promise Keeper} oath that bound David and Jonathan together.
