2 Samuel 24:10:1וַיַּ֤ךְvayakhand struck
2 Samuel 24:10:2לֵב־דָּוִד֙levdavidthe heart of David 2 Samuel 24:10:3אֹת֔וֹotohim 2 Samuel 24:10:4אַחֲרֵי־כֵ֖ןakharekhenafterwards, after that 2 Samuel 24:10:5סָפַ֣רsafarhe counted 2 Samuel 24:10:6אֶת־הָעָ֑םethaam{direct object marker} the people 2 Samuel 24:10:7וַיֹּ֨אמֶרvayomerand he said 2 Samuel 24:10:8דָּוִ֜דdavidDavid 2 Samuel 24:10:9אֶל־יְהוָ֗הelyahwehto the LORD 2 Samuel 24:10:10חָטָ֤אתִיkhatatiI have sinned 2 Samuel 24:10:11מְאֹד֙meodvery much, greatly 2 Samuel 24:10:12אֲשֶׁ֣רasherwhich, that 2 Samuel 24:10:13עָשִׂ֔יתִיasitiI have done 2 Samuel 24:10:14וְעַתָּ֣הveataand now 2 Samuel 24:10:15יְהוָ֔הyahwehLORD 2 Samuel 24:10:16הַֽעֲבֶר־נָא֙haavernaplease cause to pass away, please take away 2 Samuel 24:10:17אֶת־עֲוֺ֣ןetavon{direct object marker} the iniquity 2 Samuel 24:10:18עַבְדְּךָ֔avdekhaof your servant 2 Samuel 24:10:19כִּ֥יkifor, because 2 Samuel 24:10:20נִסְכַּ֖לְתִּיniskaltiI have acted foolishly, I have been foolish 2 Samuel 24:10:21מְאֹֽד׃meodvery much, greatly
10. Formal Translation
And David’s heart struck him after he had counted the people, and David said to the LORD {Yahweh, Sovereign Judge}, “I have sinned greatly in what I have done. And now, LORD {Yahweh, Pardoning One}, please let the guilt of Your servant pass away, for I have acted very foolishly.”
10. Dynamic Translation
After David took a census of the people, he was deeply troubled within himself. He said to the LORD {Yahweh, Merciful Redeemer}, “I have done a very wrong thing. LORD, I beg You, take away the guilt of Your servant, for I have been extremely foolish.”
