10. Formal Translation
When the one who reported to me, saying, “Behold, Saul is dead”—and he was as a bringer of good news in his own eyes—I seized him and killed him in Ziklag, which was the reward I gave him for his report.
10. Dynamic Translation
When someone told me, “Look, Saul is dead,” thinking he was bringing good news, I grabbed him and killed him in Ziklag as payment.
