The second clause, hupemeinan te ho te Silas kai ho Timotheos ekei {ὑπέμεινάν τε ὅ τε Σιλᾶς καὶ ὁ Τιμόθεος ἐκεῖ | hypémeinán te hó te Silâs kaì ho Timótheos ekeî}, uses the correlative pattern te … te plus kai to express “both … and,” grouping Silas and Timothy as a pair who remain in place. The aorist hupemeinan presents their remaining as a single decisive action in contrast to Paul’s departure, while ekei “there” closes the sentence by anchoring the scene spatially in the same location from which Paul is sent.
