16. Formal Translation
For Paul had decided to sail past Ephesus, so that he might not spend time in Asia; for he was hurrying, if it might be possible for him, to be in Jerusalem on the day of Pentecost.
16. Dynamic Translation
Paul had made up his mind to sail by Ephesus, because he did not want to lose time in Asia; he was in a hurry, hoping, if at all possible, to reach Jerusalem in time for Pentecost.
