| 3. Formal Translation Then Paul said to him, “God {Theos, Righteous Judge} is about to strike you, you whitewashed wall. You are sitting to judge me according to the law, and while breaking the law you command me to be struck.” |
| 3. Dynamic Translation Paul responded, “God {Theos, Defender Of Justice} will strike you, you whitewashed wall! You sit here to judge me by the law, but you yourself are violating that law by commanding that I be hit.” |
