The verse opens with the conjunction u {וּ | û} ‘and’ introducing the temporal clause be-yom esrim we-arbaah la-chodesh harishon {בְּיוֹם עֶשְׂרִ֥ים וְאַרְבָּעָ֖ה לַחֹדֶשׁ הָרִאשׁ֑וֹן | bə-yôm ʿeś-rîm wə-ʾar-ba-ʿā(h) la-ḥō-ḏeš hā-rî-šôn} ‘on the twenty-fourth day of the first month’.
