After a long siege has already broken the walls

Calmly, with an outwardly peaceful approach

He does things that his ancestors never did.

He simply repeats the same pattern of rule.

He only acts in small ways that others already knew.

Assume the calm appearance means harmless motives.

Measure the situation only by how much wealth it produces.

Copy the same approach if it seems effective.

Look past the surface, test the fruit, and refuse to be drawn in by power or wealth alone.

If you would like to receive Jesus, pray this with me: Lord Jesus, I admit that I have sinned and have trusted in my own strength and plans. I turn from my sin and ask you to forgive me. I believe you died for my sins and rose again. I confess you as Lord and ask you to lead me into your truth and peace. Amen.

Lord of My Heart

Lord, revive your Church so we do not mistake calm appearances for faithfulness or success for truth. Free us from greed, hidden motives, and shallow trust in power, and make us a people of integrity, compassion, and clear-eyed obedience. Awaken us to live for your lasting kingdom, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Renew Your Church in Discernment

Name one situation that seems peaceful or successful on the surface. Ask God to show you what is hidden, to guard you from greed or pressure, and to lead you in the next honest step.

Pray Before You Trust a Calm Surface

Pray for people caught under manipulative leaders, unjust systems, or sudden loss; ask God to protect the vulnerable, expose what is concealed, and provide what they need.

For People Hurt by Hidden Power

Thank God that every human scheme is limited and every fortress is temporary before him. Praise him for a kingdom that does not depend on wealth, force, or clever plots.

Thank God for What Lasts

Bring to God any desire to get ahead by cleverness, pressure, or quiet manipulation. Ask him to make your ways transparent, generous, and clean.

Turning From Hidden Motives
