The final clause ve-lo yaʿamod {וְלֹ֣א יַעֲמֹ֔ד | wə-lō ya-ʿa-mōḏ} ‘and he shall not stand’ expresses inability in the Qal imperfect, followed by the causal ki-yachshevu ʿalav maḥashavot {כִּי־יַחְשְׁב֥וּ עָלָ֖יו מַחֲשָׁבֽוֹת | kî-ya-ḥ-šê-vū ʿā-lā-v maḥ-ă-ša-vōṯ} ‘because they devise plans against him,’ where the verb–noun pairing underscores deliberate plotting as the determining factor in his failure.
