19. Formal Translation Then Daniel, whose name was Belteshazzar, was appalled for a while, and his thoughts terrified him. The king answered and said, “Belteshazzar, let the dream and its interpretation not alarm you.” Belteshazzar answered and said, “My lord, may the dream be for those who hate you, and its interpretation for your enemies.” |
19. Dynamic Translation Then Daniel, also called Belteshazzar, was overwhelmed and fell silent for a time, and his thoughts deeply disturbed him. So the king said, “Belteshazzar, do not let the dream or its interpretation frighten you.” Belteshazzar replied, “My lord, if only this dream were meant for your enemies and its interpretation for those who oppose you.” |
