Think carefully before binding yourself, then keep the commitment you made

Keep your options open by never making anything final

Speak confidently even if you plan to revise the decision later

Leave important matters vague so they can be adjusted without notice

If you would like to receive Jesus, pray this with me: Lord Jesus, I admit that my own words and plans are not steady, and I have sinned against you. I turn from my sin and ask for your mercy. I believe you died for my sins and rose again. I confess you as Lord, and I trust your saving love to hold my life firmly. Amen.

A Final Word of Grace

Lord, revive your Church to be people whose yes means yes and whose promises are kept. Where we have become careless, make us steady. Where we have used words lightly, teach us reverence and truth. Let your people reflect your faithfulness in a world of shifting words, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

A Church Steadfast in Your Truth

Pray about one decision you are about to make. Ask God to slow you down, give you wisdom, and show you the lasting consequences before you say yes. Then ask for the grace to follow through once you commit.

Before I Commit

Pray for rulers, managers, parents, and anyone who makes binding decisions: that they would seek justice over convenience, think carefully before acting, and resist the temptation to use authority carelessly.

Leaders Who Decide Well

Thank God that his character does not shift when human plans change. Praise him that his truth is stable, his justice is steady, and his word can be trusted.

Thank God for His Steadiness

Lord, help me pause before I promise, and help me keep what I say. Give me integrity when I commit and humility when I need to say no, in the name of Jesus. Amen.
