16. Formal Translation You shall gather all its plunder into the middle of its open square, and you shall burn the city and all its plunder wholly to the LORD your God {Yahweh Eloheicha, Exclusive Devotion}. It shall be a heap forever and shall never be rebuilt. |
16. Dynamic Translation You must collect all the loot of the city and bring it into its central square. Then burn the town and all its loot completely as an offering to the LORD your God {Yahweh Eloheicha, Sole Authority}. The town will become a permanent mound and must never be rebuilt. |
