6. Formal Translation If your brother, the son of your mother, or your son, or your daughter, or the wife of your bosom, or your friend who is like your own soul, secretly entices you, saying, “Let us go and serve other gods which you have not known, you nor your fathers.” |
6. Dynamic Translation If your own brother, your mother’s son, or your son or daughter, or your beloved wife, or your closest friend—someone as dear as your own life—secretly persuades you, saying, “Come, let us go and serve other gods—gods neither you nor your ancestors have known.” |
