Two coordinated prohibitions follow: lo titgodedu {לֹא תִתְגֹּדְדוּ | lōʾ tit-gō-ḏe-ḏū} ‘do not cut yourselves’ in the Hitpael imperfect, and velo tasimu {וְלֹא תָשִׂימוּ | wə-lōʾ tā-śîmū} ‘and do not put’ in the Qal imperfect, expressing ongoing interdiction.
