30. Formal Translation But Sihon, king of Heshbon, was not willing to let us pass through him, for the LORD your God {Yahweh Eloheicha, Sovereign Disposer} had hardened his spirit and made his heart obstinate, in order to give him into your hand, as is the case this day. |
30. Dynamic Translation But Sihon, the king of Heshbon, refused to let us pass by, because the LORD your God {Yahweh Eloheicha, Covenant Protector} made him stubborn in attitude and gave him a hardened heart, so He could hand him over to you as is happening today. |
