30. Formal Translation
But Sihon, king of Heshbon, was not willing to let us pass through him, for the LORD your God {Yahweh Eloheicha, Sovereign Disposer} had hardened his spirit and made his heart obstinate, in order to give him into your hand, as is the case this day.
30. Dynamic Translation
But Sihon, the king of Heshbon, refused to let us pass by, because the LORD your God {Yahweh Eloheicha, Covenant Protector} made him stubborn in attitude and gave him a hardened heart, so He could hand him over to you as is happening today.
