Ecclesiastes 2:15:1וְאָמַ֨רְתִּֽיveamartiand I said
Ecclesiastes 2:15:2אֲנִ֜יaniI Ecclesiastes 2:15:3בְּלִבִּ֗יbelibiin my heart Ecclesiastes 2:15:4כְּמִקְרֵ֤הkemikreas the happening Ecclesiastes 2:15:5הַכְּסִיל֙hakesilthe fool Ecclesiastes 2:15:6גַּם־אֲנִ֣יgamanialso I Ecclesiastes 2:15:7יִקְרֵ֔נִיyikreniwill happen to me Ecclesiastes 2:15:8וְלָ֧מָּהvelamaand why Ecclesiastes 2:15:9חָכַ֛מְתִּיkhakhamtihave I been wise Ecclesiastes 2:15:10אֲנִ֖יaniI Ecclesiastes 2:15:11אָ֣זazthen Ecclesiastes 2:15:12יוֹתֵ֑רyotermore Ecclesiastes 2:15:13וְדִבַּ֣רְתִּיvedibbartiand I spoke Ecclesiastes 2:15:14בְלִבִּ֔יbelibiin my heart Ecclesiastes 2:15:15שֶׁגַּם־זֶ֖הshegamzethat also this Ecclesiastes 2:15:16הָֽבֶל׃havelvanity
15. Formal Translation
I reflected within my heart, “The outcome that befalls the fool will befall me as well; therefore, why have I become wiser than others?” Then I spoke in my heart that this too is vanity.
15. Dynamic Translation
I said to myself, “If the senseless one meets the same end as I, what purpose is served by becoming wiser than anyone else?” Then I concluded in my heart that this too is meaningless.
