3. Formal Translation Let the king station officials throughout all the regions of his kingdom, and let them gather every virgin girl of pleasing appearance to Susa, the city, into the women’s quarters, and let them be placed under the custody of the king’s eunuch, and let purification ointment and the remaining care be given to them. |
3. Dynamic Translation The king should appoint officers across his realm to bring every beautiful young virgin to Susa, the city, into the harem, place them under the authority of the king’s eunuch, and provide them with cleansing oils and ongoing care. |
