22. Formal Translation These were the days when the Jews had rest from their enemies and the month that was turned for them from sorrow to joy and from mourning into a good day; therefore they were to make them days of feasting and gladness, of sending portions to one another, and of gifts to the poor. |
22. Dynamic Translation Just as the days when the Jews found relief from their enemies and the month that was turned for them from sorrow to joy and from mourning into a day of celebration, they made these days a season of joyful feasting, sharing food with each other, and giving portions to people in need. |
