Exegesis

The conjunction ki {כִּי | kî} introduces two coordinated purpose clauses: etten beyedkhem {אֶתֵּן בְּיֶדְכֶם | ʾetēn bə-yeḏ-khem} ‘I will give into your hand’ and wegerashtamo mipanekha {וְגֵרַשְׁתָּמוֹ מִפָּנֶיךָ | wə-ĝērāš-tāmō mi-pānē-ḵā} ‘and you shall drive them out before you’, emphasizing transfer of possession and covenant obligation.
