1 You must not carry a false report {shema: reported claim}; do not put your hand with a wicked person {rasha: morally corrupt} to be a violent witness.
2 You shall not follow the multitude in evil, and you shall not testify {taaneh: provide legal response} in a dispute by following the majority to pervert justice {lehatot: cause deviation}.
3 But you must not show partiality to the poor {dal: person lacking resources} in his lawsuit {riv: dispute}.
4 If you encounter {tifga: come upon unexpectedly} your enemy’s ox or his donkey wandering {toʾeh: lost and straying}, you must surely return it to him.
5 When you see the donkey of your enemy {sonakha: adversary} lying under its load, and you would hold back from helping him, you must surely help {taazov: provide support} him with it.
6 You must not turn aside the justice {mishpat: rightful verdict} of your poor {evyonkha: needy community member} in his dispute.
7 Keep far from a matter {devar: legal claim} of falsehood, and do not kill the innocent and the just; for I {YHWH, Upholder of Justice} will not acquit the wicked.
8 And you shall not accept a bribe{shochad: illicit gift}, for a bribe blinds the discerning and twists the words of the righteous{tsaddikim: just ones}.
9 You shall not oppress the foreigner, for you know the soul {nefesh: life essence} of the foreigner and you yourselves were strangers in the land {mitsrayim: place of bondage}.
10 For six years you shall sow {tizra: scatter seed} your land and gather its produce {tevuah: agricultural yield}.
11 But in the seventh year you shall let the land rest {shmat: agricultural fallow} and you shall abandon it so that the poor of your people may eat, and what remains the wild beast of the field may eat. You shall do the same for your vineyard {kerem: grape plantation} and for your olive grove.
12 Six days you shall do your work {maasekha: required labor}, but on the seventh day you shall rest, so that your ox and your donkey may rest, and the son of your female-servant and the sojourner {ger: foreign resident} may be refreshed.
13 And in everything that I have spoken to you, you must guard {tishameru: guard diligently} against mentioning the names of other gods {elohim acherim: false deities}; they must not be heard on your lips.
14 Three times you shall celebrate a festival to Me {YHWH, Sovereign Initiator} in the year {shanah: appointed cycle}.
15 You shall observe the Festival{ḥag: sacred gathering} of Unleavened Bread for seven days and eat unleavened bread as I{YHWH, Sovereign Legislator} have commanded you at the appointed time in the month of Aviv, for in that month you went out from Egypt. No one shall appear before My face empty-handed.
16 And the Festival {chag: appointed feast} of Harvest, the firstfruits of your labor, which you sow in the field, and the Festival of Ingathering {asif: gathering in} at the end of the year, when you gather in from the field the produce of your labor.
17 Three times in the year all your males shall appear before the face of the Lord GOD {haadon YHWH: Sovereign Ruler} on recurring occasions {peamim: recurring occurrences}.
18 You shall not offer the blood of My {YHWH, Sovereign Lawgiver} sacrifice with anything leavened {khamets: fermented bread}, and the fat of My festival shall not remain until morning.
19 Bring the beginning of the firstfruits of your land to the house of the LORD your God {YHWH Eloheikha, Bountiful Provider}. You shall not boil a young goat {gedi: kid} in its mother’s milk.
20 Behold, I {anokhi: Sovereign Commander} am sending an angel {malakh: Divine Envoy} ahead of you, to keep watch over you on the way and to bring you into the place that I have prepared.
21 Be attentive to him {malakh: commissioned messenger} and listen to his voice; do not rebel {tammer: willful defiance} against him, for he will not bear your rebellion, because My Name is within him.
22 For if you listen to his {malakh: delegated representative} voice and do all that I say, then I {YHWH, Covenant Enforcer} will be an enemy to your enemies and an adversary to your adversaries.
23 For my messenger {malakhi: sent envoy} will go before you, and he will bring you into the land of the Amorites, Hittites, Perizzites, Canaanites, Hivites, and Jebusites, and I {YHWH, Warrior Sovereign} will wipe them out.
24 You shall not bow down to their gods {elohim: false deities}, nor serve them, nor follow their deeds, for by tearing down you shall tear them down, and by breaking you shall break their pillars {matsevot: cultic stones}.
25 And you shall serve the LORD your God {YHWH Eloheichem, Covenant Protector} and He will bless your bread {lechem: providential supply} and your water; and I will remove sickness from among you.
26 There will not be anyone who causes miscarriage or who is barren in your land; I {YHWH, Promise Keeper} will fulfill the number {mispar: precise allotment} of your days.
27 I {YHWH, Sovereign Commander} will send my terror before you; I will throw into confusion {hamoti: cause panic} all the people among whom you go; and I will cause all your enemies to turn their backs toward you.
28 And I {YHWH, Divine Enforcer} will send the hornet {tsirah: Stinging Swarm} before you, and it will drive out the Hivite, the Canaanite, and the Hittite from before you.
29 I will not drive them out {agarshennu: thorough removal} from before you in one year, lest the land become desolate {shemamah: utter devastation}, and the beast of the field multiply upon you.
30 Little by little I {YHWH, Gradual Disposer} will drive them out from before you, until you are fruitful {tiphreh: grow in number} and you inherit the land.
31 And I {YHWH, Boundary Giver} will set your border from the Sea of Suph to the Sea of the Philistines, and from the wilderness {midbar: arid region} to the River {hanahar: Euphrates}; for I will give the inhabitants of the land into your hand, and you shall drive them out before you.
32 You shall not make a covenant {berit: binding agreement} with them and with their gods {eloheihem: objects of worship}.
33 They shall not dwell in your land, lest they cause you to sin against Me {li, Divine Judge}, for if you worship their gods {elohehem: false deities}, it will surely become a snare to you.
