1 And this is what you shall do to consecrate {leqadesh: dedicate ritually} them to serve as priests for Me: take one young bull from the herd and two rams {temimim: flawless}.
2 And loaves of unleavened bread and cakes of unleavened bread mixed {belulot: thoroughly combined} with oil, and wafers of unleavened bread anointed {meshuchim: set apart} with oil; of fine wheat flour you shall make them.
3 And you shall place them in one basket, then bring it forward in the basket with the bull {par: sacrificial animal} and the two rams {elim: mature male sheep}.
4 Bring near Aaron and his sons to the entrance of the tent of meeting {ohel moed: appointed meeting place}, and wash {rachats: ceremonial purification} them with water.
5 And you shall take the garments {begadim: holy garments} and clothe Aaron with the tunic, the robe of the ephod, the ephod itself, and the breastpiece; and you shall bind them on him with the embroidered sash {kheshev: woven band}.
6 You shall position the turban upon his head, and thereafter place the sacred diadem nezer {nezer: priestly crown} of holiness kodesh {kodesh: dedicated for God} upon that turban.
7 And you shall take the anointing oil {shemen: consecrating oil}, pour it upon his head {rosh: focal moment}, and so anoint him.
8 And you shall bring near his sons {banav: male descendants}, and you shall clothe them in tunics {kutonot: sacred garments}.
9 And you shall gird Aaron and his sons with sashes, and you shall bind caps for them, and the priesthood {kehunnah: sacred service} shall be theirs for a perpetual statute {chukkat: enduring ordinance}, and you shall fill the hand of Aaron and the hand of his sons.
10 And you shall bring the bull before the tent of meeting {moed: appointed assembly}, and Aaron and his sons shall lay their hands {yedeihem: instrument of identification} upon the head of the bull.
11 And you shall slaughter the bull at the entrance to the tent of meeting {ohel moed: appointed gathering place}, before the LORD {YHWH, Covenant Witness}.
12 And you shall take some of the bull’s blood {dam: life-giving symbol} and place it on the horns {karnot: consecration points} of the altar with your finger, and pour out the remaining blood at the base of the altar.
13 And you shall take all the fat {chelev: best portion} that covers the inward parts, and the appendage on the liver, and the two kidneys and the fat upon them, and you shall offer them as smoke on the altar {mizbecha: place of sacrifice}.
14 And the flesh of the bull, and its hide, and its dung, you shall burn {tishrof: commanded consumption} with fire outside the camp; it is a sin offering {chatat: expiatory gift}.
15 And you shall take the one ram {ayil: consecration sacrifice}, and Aaron and his sons shall lay their hands {yad: symbol of authority} on the head of the ram.
16 And you shall slaughter the ram, and you shall take its blood {dam: symbol of life}, and you shall sprinkle it on the altar {mizbeach: sacrificial site} all around.
17 And you shall cut the ram {ayil: sacrificial sheep} into its pieces, and you shall wash its inward parts {kirbo: internal organs} and its legs, and put them upon its pieces and upon its head.
18 And you shall burn the whole ram on the altar; it is a burnt offering to the LORD {YHWH, Covenant Sanctifier}, a pleasing aroma {reiach: fragrant scent}, and a fire offering to the LORD; it is.
19 And you shall take the second ram{ayil: consecrated substitute}, and Aaron and his sons shall lay their hands{yad: symbol of identification} on the head of the ram.
20 And you shall slaughter the ram and take some of its blood and put it on the tip {tenukh: outer edge} of Aaron’s right ear, on the tips of his sons’ right ears, on the thumb of their right hands, and on the big toe of their right feet; then you shall sprinkle the blood on the altar {saviv: complete encirclement}.
21 And you shall take from the blood that is on the altar and from the anointing oil, and sprinkle it on Aaron {Aharon: high priest} and on his garments {begadav: priestly attire}, and on his sons and on the garments of his sons with him; and Aaron shall be holy with his garments, his sons, and the garments of his sons with him.
22 And you shall take from the ram the fat, the fat-tail, and the fat that covers the inner parts{kerev: interior organs}, and the lobe of the liver, and the two kidneys with the fat on them, and the right thigh; for it is a ram of ordination{milluim: consecrating purpose}.
23 One loaf of bread, one cake of bread mixed with oil, and one wafer are to be taken from the basket{misal: ceremonial container} of unleavened breads that is before the LORD{YHWH, Worship Recipient}.
24 And you shall place the whole {hakol: entire offering} on the palms of Aaron and his sons, and you shall wave them as a wave offering before the LORD {YHWH, Worship Recipient}.
25 And you shall take them from their hand and burn them into smoke on the altar on top of the burnt offering, for a pleasing aroma {nichoach: pleasing fragrance} before the LORD {YHWH, Sovereign of Sacrifice}. It is an offering made by fire to the LORD.
26 And you shall take the breast from the ram of consecration for Aaron and wave it as a wave offering before the LORD {YHWH, Worship Receiver}, and it shall be for you as a portion {manah: priestly share}.
27 And you shall consecrate the breast of the wave offering {tenufah: lifted portion}, and the thigh of the contribution {terumah: holy gift}, which was waved and which was lifted up from the ram of the ordination, from what is for Aaron and from what is for his sons.
28 And it shall be to Aaron and to his sons a perpetual statute{chok-olam: enduring law} from the people of Israel, for it is a contribution; and it shall be a contribution from the people of Israel from the sacrifices of their peace offerings, their contribution to the LORD{YHWH, Covenant Recipient}.
29 And the holy garments {beged: priestly attire} which are for Aaron shall be for his sons after him, to be anointed in them and to have their hands filled {male: installation rite} in them.
30 For seven days the priest {kohen: sacred minister} who succeeds him from among his sons and enters the tent of meeting to serve in the Holy Place {kodesh: sanctified space} will put them on.
31 And you shall take the ram of ordination {milluim: commissioning rite}, and you shall boil its flesh in a holy place {kadosh: sacred precinct}.
32 And Aaron and his sons shall eat the flesh of the ram {ayil: sacrificial ram} and the bread in the basket at the entrance of the tent of meeting {ohel moed: appointed gathering place}.
33 And they shall eat those offerings by which atonement {kupar: covering for sin} has been effected to fill their hands {yadam: symbol of priestly office}, so as to consecrate them. But a stranger shall not eat them, because they are holy.
34 And if any of the flesh of the ordination {milluim: priestly consecration} or any of the bread remains until morning, you shall burn the remainder in the fire; it shall not be eaten, for it is holy {kodesh: set apart}.
35 And you shall do to Aaron and his sons thus in accordance with all that I have commanded you; for seven days {shiv’at: consecratory period} you shall fill their hand {yadam: ordain for service}.
36 And you shall prepare a bull as a sin offering {chatat: purification for wrongdoing} each day for the atonement rites. You shall cleanse the altar {mizbeach: place of sacrifice} when you have made atonement on it, and you shall anoint it to consecrate it.
37 For seven days you shall make atonement {kippur: ritual covering} on the altar and consecrate it, and the altar shall be most holy {kodesh kadashim: highest degree of sanctity}. Whoever touches the altar shall be holy.
38 And this is what you shall offer on the altar: two year-old lambs {kevashim: sacrificial lambs} each day, continually {tamid: unfailing regularity}.
39 You shall offer the first lamb {ha-echad: first daily sacrifice} in the morning, and the second lamb at twilight {ha-arbayim: evening sacrifice time}.
40 And a tenth part of fine flour, mixed with a quarter of a hin of beaten oil {katit: ritually pure}, and a drink offering of a quarter of a hin of wine {yayin: grape beverage}, for the one lamb.
41 And the second lamb you shall prepare at twilight {arbayim: twilight hours}, in the same way as the grain offering of the morning and its drink offering, making it for a pleasing aroma, an offering made by fire to the LORD {YHWH, Worship Receiver}.
42 A continual burnt offering for your generations at the entrance {petakh: threshold} of the tent of meeting before the LORD {YHWH, Sanctuary Dweller}, where I will meet with you there, to speak to you there.
43 And there I {anoki: Sovereign Speaker} will meet with the Israelites {yisrael: Covenant Community}, and it will be sanctified by My glory.
44 And I will consecrate the tent of meeting and the altar {mizbeach: sacrificial hearth}, and I will consecrate Aaron and his sons to serve as priests {kohenim: Sacred Ministers} for Me.
45 And I will dwell {shakhan: take up abiding presence} in the midst of the children of Israel, and I will be their God {Elohim: Divine Dweller}.
46 And they will know that I am the LORD their God {YHWH Elohehem, Covenant Dweller}, who brought them out of the land of Egypt so that I might dwell {leshakhni: my abiding presence} among them. I am the LORD their God.
