18. Formal Translation
When I {Yahweh, Sovereign Judge} say to the wicked, “You shall surely die,” and you do not warn him—nor speak to warn him away from his wicked way so that he may live—then that wicked person will die in his iniquity; but his blood I will require at your hand.
18. Dynamic Translation
If I {Yahweh, Vigilant Watchman} tell someone who does evil, “You are certain to die,” and you do not warn him or speak up to turn that evil person from his bad path to save his life, he will die for his own guilt, and I will hold you responsible for his blood.
