Ezra 4:14:1 ⧉כְּעַ֗ןkeannow Ezra 4:14:2 ⧉כָּל־קֳבֵל֙kalkoveltherefore, inasmuch as Ezra 4:14:3 ⧉דִּֽי־מְלַ֤חdimelakhthat the salt of Ezra 4:14:4 ⧉הֵֽיכְלָא֙hekhelathe palace Ezra 4:14:5 ⧉מְלַ֔חְנָאmelakhnawe eat Ezra 4:14:6 ⧉וְעַרְוַ֣תvearvatand the nakedness of, and the shame of Ezra 4:14:7 ⧉מַלְכָּ֔אmalkathe king Ezra 4:14:8 ⧉לָ֥אlanot Ezra 4:14:9 ⧉אֲֽרִֽיךְarikhfitting, proper Ezra 4:14:10 ⧉לַ֖נָאlanafor us Ezra 4:14:11 ⧉לְמֶֽחֱזֵ֑אlemekhezeto see, to witness Ezra 4:14:12 ⧉עַ֨ל־דְּנָ֔הaldenabecause of this, therefore Ezra 4:14:13 ⧉שְׁלַ֖חְנָאshelakhnawe send Ezra 4:14:14 ⧉וְהוֹדַ֥עְנָאvehodanaand we make known, and we inform Ezra 4:14:15 ⧉לְמַלְכָּֽא׃lemalkato the king |
14. Formal Translation Now, because we have eaten the salt of the palace, and it is not fitting for us to look on while the king’s honor is shamed, therefore we have sent to inform him. |
14. Dynamic Translation Since we receive support from the palace, it would not be right for us to watch the king’s disgrace in silence; so we are sending this report to make it known. |
