Source Text: Hebrew (WLC) Genesis 2:21:1 ⧉וַיַּפֵּל֩vayappel{And He} caused to fall Genesis 2:21:2 ⧉יְהוָ֨הyahwehLORD Genesis 2:21:3 ⧉אֱלֹהִ֧יםelohimGod Genesis 2:21:4 ⧉תַּרְדֵּמָ֛הtardemaa deep sleep Genesis 2:21:5 ⧉עַל־הָאָדָ֖םalhaadamupon the man Genesis 2:21:6 ⧉וַיִּישָׁ֑ןvayishan{And} he slept Genesis 2:21:7 ⧉וַיִּקַּ֗חvayikkakh{And} he took Genesis 2:21:8 ⧉אַחַת֙akhatone Genesis 2:21:9 ⧉מִצַּלְעֹתָ֔יוmitsalothavfrom his ribs Genesis 2:21:10 ⧉וַיִּסְגֹּ֥רvayisgor{And} he closed Genesis 2:21:11 ⧉בָּשָׂ֖רbasarwith flesh Genesis 2:21:12 ⧉תַּחְתֶּֽנָּה׃takhtennain its place |
21. Formal Translation And the LORD God {Yahweh Elohim, Skillful Fashioner} caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and he slept. Then He took one of his ribs and closed the flesh in its place. |
21. Dynamic Translation So the LORD God put the man into a deep sleep. While he was sleeping, He {Yahweh Elohim, The Divine Surgeon} took one of his ribs and closed the area with flesh. |
