| 40. Formal Translation Jacob separated the lambs. He set the faces of the flock toward the streaked and all the brown in Laban’s flock, and he put his own flocks apart by themselves; he did not put them with Laban’s flock. |
| 40. Dynamic Translation Jacob separated the young lambs and kept his own animals distinct. He made the rest of the flock face toward the streaked and dark ones in Laban’s flock. He did not mix his groups with Laban’s flock. |
