15. Formal Translation And the LORD {Yahweh, Judge and Protector} said to him, “Therefore, whoever kills Cain—vengeance will be required sevenfold.” Then the LORD placed a sign for Cain, so that anyone who found him would not strike him. |
15. Dynamic Translation Then the LORD {Yahweh, Merciful Guardian} answered, “Therefore, if anyone kills Cain, vengeance will be taken on him sevenfold.” So the LORD set a mark on Cain, to keep anyone who met him from harming him. |
