| 22. Formal Translation Only the land of the priests was not bought, because a fixed portion for the priests came from Pharaoh, and they ate the portion he gave them. Therefore, they did not sell their land. |
| 22. Dynamic Translation The only land he did not buy was the priests’ land, because the priests received a set allowance from Pharaoh and lived on what he provided. That is why they did not have to sell their land. |
