What profit is an idol when its maker has shaped it—a cast image and a teacher of lies? For its maker trusts his own creation to make speechless idols.
18. Dynamic Translation
What good is a carved idol since its maker shaped it—a metal figure that only teaches lies? The maker trusts his own handiwork to fashion worthless gods that cannot speak.
