Source Text: Hebrew (WLC) Isaiah 10:15:1 ⧉הֲיִתְפָּאֵר֙hayitpaershall he boast Isaiah 10:15:2 ⧉הַגַּרְזֶ֔ןhagarzenthe axe Isaiah 10:15:3 ⧉עַ֖לalover Isaiah 10:15:4 ⧉הַחֹצֵ֣בhakhotsavthe one hewing Isaiah 10:15:5 ⧉בּ֑וֹbowith it Isaiah 10:15:6 ⧉אִם־יִתְגַּדֵּ֤לimyitgaddelor shall it make itself great Isaiah 10:15:7 ⧉הַמַּשּׂוֹר֙hamasorthe saw Isaiah 10:15:8 ⧉עַל־מְנִיפ֔וֹalmenifoagainst the one wielding it Isaiah 10:15:9 ⧉כְּהָנִ֥יףkehanifas if he should brandish Isaiah 10:15:10 ⧉שֵׁ֙בֶט֙sheveta rod Isaiah 10:15:11 ⧉וְאֶת־מְרִימָ֔יוveetmerimavand the ones lifting it Isaiah 10:15:12 ⧉כְּהָרִ֥יםkeharimas if it should raise Isaiah 10:15:13 ⧉מַטֶּ֖הmatea staff Isaiah 10:15:14 ⧉לֹא־עֵֽץ׃loetsnot wood |
15. Formal Translation Shall the axe boast itself against the hewer, or shall the saw magnify itself against the mover? As if a rod should wield those who lift it, or a staff should lift him who is not wood. |
15. Dynamic Translation Can the axe exalt itself over the one who shapes it, or can the saw claim greatness over the one who wields it? It is like a rod trying to wield the one who lifts it, or a staff lifting someone who is no piece of wood. |
