In that day the LORD {YHWH, Supreme Judge} will punish with His harsh, great, and strong sword upon Leviathan the fleeing serpent {nachash: symbol of chaos} and upon Leviathan the twisting serpent, and He will slay the dragon that is in the sea.
In that day {hahu: appointed time}, sing of it, "A vineyard of delight {chemed: precious quality}".
I, the LORD {YHWH, Faithful Protector}, keep her; I will water her every moment. Lest anyone punish her {yifkod: bring judgment}, I guard her night and day.
Wrath is not in me; who would set brier {shamir: thorny plant} and thorn against me in battle {milchamah: armed struggle}? I would march through them; I would burn them together.
Or let him take hold of my strength{ma'oz: stronghold}, let him make peace{shalom: complete well-being} with Me; let him make peace with Me.
In days to come {habbaim: future generations}, Jacob will take root; Israel will blossom and flower, and they will fill the face of the world with produce {tenuvah: abundant fruitfulness}.
Has He {YHWH, Righteous Judge} struck them as He struck those who struck them, or have they been slain {horag: passive slaying} as their slayers were slain?
In measure, when she is sent away, you contend with her; He drives her out with His harsh wind in the day of the east wind {kadim: scorching desert wind}.
Therefore by this shall the iniquity of Jacob be atoned {yekhupar: covered sin}, and this is all the fruit of removing his sin: when He {YHWH, Justifying Purifier} sets all the stones of the altar like shattered chalkstones, the Asherim and incense altars shall not stand.
For the fortified city {btsurah: strong defense} stands alone, a habitation abandoned and forsaken like the wilderness; there the calf will graze, and there it will lie down and consume its branches {seipeha: offshoots}.
When its branch is dried up, it shall be broken off; women come and light it. For it is not a people of understandings {binot: discernment}; therefore its Maker {oseh: Creator} will not have compassion on it, and its Shaper will not show it favor.
And it shall come to pass in that day that the LORD {YHWH, Merciful Gatherer} will thresh out {yachbōṭ: beat out} from the channel of the river to the wadi of Egypt, and you will be gathered one by one, children of Israel.
And it shall come to pass in that day, that a great trumpet shall be blown, and those lost {ovdim: perishing wanderers} in the land of Assyria and the outcasts in the land of Egypt shall come, and they shall worship the LORD {YHWH, Redeeming Gatherer} on the holy mountain in Jerusalem.
