Source Text: Hebrew (WLC) Isaiah 49:23:1 ⧉וְהָי֨וּvehayuand they shall be Isaiah 49:23:2 ⧉מְלָכִ֜יםmelakhimkings Isaiah 49:23:3 ⧉אֹֽמְנַ֗יִךְomenayekhyour foster fathers or guardians Isaiah 49:23:4 ⧉וְשָׂרֽוֹתֵיהֶם֙vesarotehemand their princesses or noblewomen Isaiah 49:23:5 ⧉מֵינִ֣יקֹתַ֔יִךְmenikotayekhyour nursing women or wet nurses Isaiah 49:23:6 ⧉אַפַּ֗יִםapayimface down or with nose to the ground Isaiah 49:23:7 ⧉אֶ֚רֶץeretsearth or ground Isaiah 49:23:8 ⧉יִשְׁתַּ֣חֲווּyishtakhavuthey shall bow down Isaiah 49:23:9 ⧉לָ֔ךְlakhto you Isaiah 49:23:10 ⧉וַעֲפַ֥רvaafarand dust Isaiah 49:23:11 ⧉רַגְלַ֖יִךְraglayekhyour feet Isaiah 49:23:12 ⧉יְלַחֵ֑כוּyelakhekhuthey shall lick Isaiah 49:23:13 ⧉וְיָדַ֙עַתְּ֙veyadaatand you shall know Isaiah 49:23:14 ⧉כִּֽי־אֲנִ֣יkianithat I Isaiah 49:23:15 ⧉יְהוָ֔הyahwehthe LORD Isaiah 49:23:16 ⧉אֲשֶׁ֥רasherwho or which Isaiah 49:23:17 ⧉לֹֽא־יֵבֹ֖שׁוּloyevoshuthey shall not be put to shame Isaiah 49:23:18 ⧉קֹוָֽי׃סkovaithose who wait for me |
| 23. Formal Translation And kings shall be your foster fathers, and their princesses your nursing mothers. Pressing their faces to the earth, they will bow before you, and they will lick the dust from your feet. Then you will know that I am the LORD {Yahweh, Ultimate Redeemer}; those who wait for Me shall not be ashamed. |
| 23. Dynamic Translation Kings will care for you as guardians, and their princesses will be like nurses to you. They will bow low to the ground before you and lick the dust from your feet. Then you will realize that I am the LORD {Yahweh, Faithful Deliverer}; all who hope in Me will never be disgraced. |
