Exegesis

A causal clause introduced by ki {כִּי | kî} explains that nishberah {נִשְׁבְּרָה | niš-berāh} ‘it is broken’ refers back to the construct chain betulat bat-ammi {בְּתוּלַת בַּת־עַמִּי | bĕ-tû-lat bât-ʿam-mî}, a poetic personification of Jerusalem.
