Exegesis

The closing nominal clause erets melekhah velo teshev {אֶרֶץ מְלֵחָה וְלֹא תֵשֵׁב | ʼerets məlēḥāh wə-lōʾ tēšēḇ} ‘a land of salt and will not be inhabited’ uses a negated noun clause to emphasize permanent abandonment.
