| 9. Formal Translation Whoever stays in this city will die by the sword, by famine, and by pestilence; but whoever goes out and surrenders to the Chaldeans besieging you will live, and his life will be for him a spoil. |
| 9. Dynamic Translation If you stay in this city, you will die from war, hunger, or disease; but if you go out and yield to the Babylonians surrounding you, you will survive, and your life will be yours to keep. |
