Exegesis

The conjunction ki {כִּ֣י | kî} ‘for/because’ introduces the reason that he will not return, lo yashuv od {לֹ֤א יָשׁוּב ע֔וֹד | lōʾ yā-šûḇ ʿôḏ} ‘he will not return again’, nor see the land of his birth, et erets moladto {אֶת־אֶ֥רֶץ מוֹלַדְתּֽוֹ | ʾeṯ ʾe-reṣ mō-laḏ-tô} ‘the land of his birth’. The translation preserves the parallel prohibitions and intensifier for emotional impact, linking them to the tragic finality of exile.
