Exegesis

The wayyiqtol vattehi {וַתְּהִי | wattəhî} ‘and it became’ shifts to human actions: merutsatam {מְרוּצָתָם | mərûṣātām} ‘their running’ and raah {רָעָה | rāʿāh} ‘evil’ emphasize moral deviation, while ugevuratam {וּגְבוּרָתָם | ūgəḇûrātām} ‘their might’ with lo-ken {לֹא־כֵן | lōʾ-kēn} ‘not so’ pronounces a final judgment.
