Job 20:22ExegesisTAB

Job 20 : 22 Abundance | Distress | Suddenness
22. Linguistic Exegesis
The verse begins with the fronted temporal infinitive bimlo’ot {בִּמְלֹ֣אות | bimlōʾôt} ‘in fullness’, which governs sipqo {שִׂ֭פְקוֹ | śipqô} ‘his sufficiency’ to depict peak prosperity. The clause yetser lo {יֵ֣צֶר ל֑וֹ | yēṣer lō} places this abundance under distress, using a Qal imperfect to indicate ongoing pressure. The second colon shifts to kol-yad amel {כָּל־יַ֖ד עָמֵ֣ל | kol-yāḏ ʿāmēl} ‘every hand of misery’ as the subject, with tevo’ennu {תְּבוֹאֶֽנּוּ | təḇōʾennû} ‘will come upon him’ expressing unavoidable arrival. The alignment of the feminine verb form with the feminine noun yād and the pronominal suffix with the man underscores his role as the target. The parallelism between prosperity and affliction emphasizes sudden collapse at the height of apparent security.
