Joel 1:12:1הַגֶּ֣פֶןhagefenthe vine
Joel 1:12:2הוֹבִ֔ישָׁהhovishahas dried up Joel 1:12:3וְהַתְּאֵנָ֖הvehateenaand the fig tree Joel 1:12:4אֻמְלָ֑לָהumlalahas withered Joel 1:12:5רִמּ֞וֹןrimmonpomegranate Joel 1:12:6גַּם־תָּמָ֣רgamtamaralso palm Joel 1:12:7וְתַפּ֗וּחַvetappuakhand apple tree Joel 1:12:8כָּל־עֲצֵ֤יkalatseall the trees of Joel 1:12:9הַשָּׂדֶה֙hasadethe field Joel 1:12:10יָבֵ֔שׁוּyaveshuhave dried up Joel 1:12:11כִּֽי־הֹבִ֥ישׁkihovishfor has dried up Joel 1:12:12שָׂשׂ֖וֹןsasongladness Joel 1:12:13מִן־בְּנֵ֥יminbenefrom the sons of Joel 1:12:14אָדָֽם׃סadamman or humankind
12. Formal Translation
The vine is dried up and the fig tree is languishing; pomegranate, palm, and apple—all the trees of the field—have withered, for joy has dried up from the sons of man.
12. Dynamic Translation
The grapevine has dried up, and the fig tree has wilted; the pomegranate, the palm, and the apple—all the trees of the field—have withered, for gladness has faded from the sons of man.
