Because people had already made themselves worthy

Because obedience had already been fully proven

Only people who never struggle with doubt

Only those born into the right family line

They will earn that life by their own goodness

Give something costly to help someone who cannot pay you back

Offer kind words while keeping your time and resources untouched

Help only when people will notice and praise you

Care only for the people who are already easiest to love

If you would like to receive Jesus, pray this with me: Lord Jesus, I admit that I have sinned and that I cannot save myself. I believe you died for my sins and rose again. I turn from my sin and open my life to you. Thank you for loving the world and for giving yourself for me. Be my Lord and my Savior, and lead me into the life you promise. Amen.

Receive the Son

Lord, revive your Church with the love that reaches the world. Free us from fear and self-protection, and make us generous, compassionate, and ready to give. Let us reflect the wide heart of Christ to those near and far, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Awaken Your Church to Costly Love

Pray by naming one place where you are tempted to save yourself, then ask God to help you trust his Son more deeply and rest in the life he promises.

Pray for Trust Instead of Self-Reliance

Bring these to God: gratitude for his one and only Son, wonder that his love reached the world, and praise for the life that never ends.

Thank You for the Gift of Your Son

Pray for one person you do not naturally think of first, asking God to bless them, open their heart, and show you how to love them well.

For Someone Beyond Your Circle

Lord, teach me to love with open hands. Help me give what costs me, care beyond convenience, and love people I might overlook, in the name of Jesus. Amen.
